INTERSECTION DESIGN
In each urban transport infrastructure design project, there are a number of intersections. In the past, the design of intersections along the route was only considered a simple task and was not focused on. This leads to poor quality in intersection design documents. It not only causes many consequences for society but also takes a lot of time and money to process and renovate the intersections during their operation and exploitation.
The most common design errors can be listed:
- The design of the left-turn waiting lane does not provide enough lanes or lane length.
- The design of the right-turn priority lane or left-turn waiting lane is inappropriate, leading to congestion during operation.
- The design of the longitudinal slope is not smooth and comfortable.
- The tributary point of the intersection was misidentified or neglected.
ADSCivil Intersection is an intersection design software, a part of the ADSCivil software suite. It is also the first "Made in Vietnam" application for intersection design, fully meeting the design requirements:
- To support full design and layout to avoid common basic errors in intersection design.
- To inherite and synchronize design data
- To ensure good usability, accessibility, and flexibility for users.
STANDARD INTERSECTION DESIGN
ADSCivil Intersection directly inherits the data of the routes designed in ADSCivil Road. Thus, there is always consistency in the data of the routes at the intersection. All alignment elevation adjustments of routes will be automatically updated for the intersection. In ADSCivil Intersection, the intersection is designed to be very flexible with perfect features:
- Immerging or merging lanes for vehicles is designed before and after changing direction.
- The duplicate feature of design parameters helps to eliminate repetitive operations in designing the same intersections.
- Each intersection corner is treated as an independent route, making it easy to design and control the horizontal slope and edge elevation transition in the branch as well as calculate the detailed volume.
- Export intersection contour lines, volume estimation tables, and control point coordinate tables automatically for construction.
ROUNDABOUT DESIGN
ADSCivil Intersection can be used to design complex roundabouts by dividing the areas of the roundabout. Then, the design of the intersections will become an intersection with spur routes and central routes.
- Create spur and central routes by using ADSCivil Road.
- Divide the intersection coverage into small regions at standard intersections between the spur and central routes.
- Inherited from the designed route. Each intersection is treated as a standard intersection. As a result, it is simple to design and control the cross slope and edge elevation transition in the spur, as well as estimate the detail volume.
- Synchronize design models into ADSCivil VPV for full 3D perspective view by Twinmotion control and export via Twinmotion or presentation software.
